We are a BEVA approved Veterinary Centre for AI with Chilled & Frozen Semen.

Artificial Insemination with Chilled & Fresh semen

Gillivervet has been involved with AI for over 20 years.  The demand for AI has increased dramatically during this time with semen now available from National & European stallions giving mare owners access to the best competition bloodlines usually with next day delivery.

Having mares on site at Garwood we can manipulate the mares breeding cycle to accommodate delivery times for national & international shippers.

We provide excellent stables for mares & mares with foals at foot.  We feel it is vital that mares are well cared for in spacious well bedded boxes and are well fed in order to maximise pregnancy rates.

Artificial Insemination with Frozen Semen

The major advantage of frozen semen is that the semen is available at anytime when it is required.

Our pregnancy rate for frozen semen is over 70%.  We have onsite frozen semen storage facilities & all semen is evaluated on site whether it is fresh, chilled or frozen.

All mares have a pre breeding check & we can offer a semen collection & evaluation service. 

Stud Packages

This is a scheme where the mare owner pays in advance to cover routine scanning, drugs, fertility treatment & AI for up to 3 breeding cycles.  For example the following procedures, where applicable would be included in the cost.

• EVA & EIA Blood Tests

• CEM Swab

• Scans & Rescans

• Wash out & Drugs

• Hormone Injections

• Hormone Implants

• Caslicks Procedure

• Pregnancy Scans at 14 - 16 days & 24 - 28 days

The following would not be included

• Non stud routine veterinary treatment while at Garwood

• Pregnancy diagnosis after 42 days

• Any attention during foaling or treatment needed for a foal at foot

• Carriage fees for the transport of semen

• Livery at Garwood

Stud Packages are payable in advance & no part of the fee is refundable.
