  • John Gilliver - G (Web)

    John Gilliver

    Clinical Director and Veterinary Surgeon

    BVSc MRCVS

    John grew up on a dairy farm in Worsley and graduated from Liverpool University in 1980, after which he worked at large animal and mixed practices in Yorkshire and Bolton, before creating Gillivervet in 1989. His clinical interests include breeding work, pre-purchase examinations, riding school inspections and JMB measurements. He is also a panel judge, and enjoys riding, trail hunting and cycling in his free time.

  • Alison Swift - G (Web)

    Alison Swift

    Clinical Director and Veterinary Surgeon

    BVSc MRCVS

    Alison first joined our practice shortly after graduating from Liverpool University in 2006, and returned in 2010 after a few years away. She enjoys all aspects of equine clinical work, but has a particular interest in stud medicine and scanning. Outside of work, she loves spending time with family and taking care of her horses and dog.

    Kathleen has been part of our team since 2015. She has a passion for equine dentistry, having completed advanced veterinary practice certificate modules in the field, and loves getting to build bonds with her clients and patients. When she’s not at work, she enjoys training her dogs, walking, cooking, reading and socialising.

  • Julie Best - G (Web)

    Julie Best

    Practice Manager

    Julie has been a client of ours since we first opened in 1989, and joined our team in 2005, having previously worked in finance for a number of years. She has one dog called Teasel, and spends much of her spare time helping her daughter look after her ponies.

  • Rachel Schneider - G (Web)

    Rachel Schneiders

    Veterinary Surgeon

    BVSc (Hons) MRCVS Cert AVP

    Rachel graduated from Liverpool University in 2015, where she received the Zoetis prize for excellence in equine studies. She joined us in 2018, and has a passion for orthopaedics and equine lameness, which she holds an advanced veterinary practice certificate in. Her hobbies include running, swimming, mountain biking, reading and taking care of her cats.

  • Joe Winrow - G (Web)

    Joseph Winrow

    Veterinary Surgeon

    BVSc MRCVS

    Joe joined the team in 2020, shortly after graduating from Liverpool University. He is an official veterinarian and enjoys all aspects of equine veterinary practice, but has a particular interest in reproduction, having spent a stud season in New Zealand. At home, he has a horse and a small flock of sheep.

  • Becky Price - G (Web)

    Rebecca Price

    Veterinary Surgeon

    BVSc MRCVS

    Originally from Lancashire, Becky graduated from Bristol University in 2016, after which she carried out an internship at an equine practice in Northamptonshire. She joined us in 2021, and is our appointed radiation protection supervisor. In her own time, she enjoys travelling, walking her dog and catching up with friends and family.

  • Faye Walmsley - G (Web)

    Faye Walmsley

    Veterinary Surgeon

    Faye graduated from The University of Edinburgh in 2023, and joined our team a few months later. She has a dog called Monroe, and finds equine internal medicine particularly interesting. In her spare time, she likes to keep active by going to the gym, running and hiking.

  • Bryony Fossett - G (Web)

    Bryony Fossett

    Veterinary Surgeon

    Bryony joined the team shortly after graduating from the University of Surrey in 2023, and has a keen interest in equine reproduction and internal medicine. She has bred and shown dogs her whole life, and has three dogs called Polly, Dollar and Peggy. When she’s not working, she loves exploring the countryside and climbing mountains with her dogs.

  • Vicky Dawson - G (Web)

    Veterinary Nurse

    Vicky has been with us since 2022, and previously worked in sales support for BT Business and as a riding instructor. She enjoys handling and taking care of our inpatients, and has two ponies of her own. In her spare time, she likes getting together with friends, be that for a walk or a trip out, and taking her ponies for rides or to shows.

  • Hollie Carline - G (Web)

    Hollie Carline

    Student Veterinary Nurse

    Hollie worked at Knowsley Safari Park before joining our practice in 2020, and has two cats and a horse of her own. Her favourite part of her job is getting to develop her equine nursing knowledge and skills, and she has passion for equine theatre nursing and anaesthesia. Her hobbies include eventing, riding, grooming and spending time with her family.

  • Sammy Smith - G (Web)

    Samantha Smith

    Student Veterinary Nurse

    Sammy joined us in 2021 as a yard team member, and is working towards qualifying as a registered equine veterinary nurse. She has a soft spot for lambs and has two horses, Molly and Sparky, who she is keen to take eventing.

  • Christine Cotton - G (Web)

    Christine Cotton

    Office Manager

    Christine worked in sales and finance before joining our team in 2015. She works closely with our senior vets, and manages their diaries and communication between departments. She has a dog called Beanie and Custard her daughters pony. She also spends much of her spare time competing at horse shows with her family, shopping, eating out and catching up with friends.

  • Megan Johnson - G (Web)

    Megan Johnson

    Administrator and Stock Coordinator

    Megan joined the practice in 2014 to cover a maternity leave, and has never left! Her favourite parts of her job are learning something new everyday about equine cases and getting to work with great people. She has one dog called Mishka and Tom, her Welsh Section D pony, and enjoys walking, hiking, paddleboarding, swimming, running and renovating her house.

  • Carly Tootell - G (Web)

    Carly Tootell

    Receptionist

    Before joining our team in 2019, Carly worked at Specsavers. She loves that everyday is different at our practice, as well as getting to work with our lovely team and clients. In her own time, she enjoys taking care of her cat, Willow, and walking her dog, Reggie.

    Receptionist

    Sian worked as a small animal receptionist before joining our reception team in 2023. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her horses, Lucy and Lyra.

  • Hazel Kirkhan - G (Web)

    Hazell Kirkham

    Yard Supervisor

    Hazell joined us in 2010, having previously worked in the mental health field with young adults.  Her favourite parts of her job are looking after inpatients, overseeing the running of the yard and training new yard team members. She has a dog called Suzie and enjoys walking, going to gigs and music festivals and socialising with friends.
